| 2008 IMCA Modified Rules
The rules for this class are designed around the IMCA sanction rules. The basics are written below. If something is not covered, do not assume you can do it. Either look in the IMCA rules booklet or call the speedway. The reasoning behind this is to allow the IMCA modified racer to travel between tracks without changes to their cars. We only wish all tracks would follow these rules and do the same in all classes. 1. Roll Cage: MUST consist of continuous hoops not less than 1.666” outside diameter and MUST have a wall thickness of at least .095. MUST be frame mounted in at least 6 places. 2. Brakes: You MUST carry all brake components on cars such as: rotors, calipers and even lines. A shut-off or proportioning valve is allowed for right front shut-off. 3. Tires/Wheels: MUST be 8” maximum steel wheel ONLY. McCreary American Racer G-60 or Hoosier G-60 with IMCA stamped on sidewall of tire and maximum width of 9”. Bead locks are allowed on right side. 4. Suspension: Front suspension MUST be stock and in stock location. Stock passenger car spindles ONLY. NO FABRICATED SPINDLES! Tube type upper A-arms and lower A-arms are allowed.. NO aluminum or fiberglass steering or suspension parts front or rear. 108” minimum wheel base - both sides. Outer tie rod ends can be heims and steel swedge tubes may be used but inner tie rod ends MUST remain stock OEM. 5. Engines: MUST be OEM type. NO aluminum heads or cylinder blocks. One carb. - either two or four barrel. NO electric fuel pumps. Engine setback will be measured from rear of motor to center of rear-end and MUST be a minimum of 72”. 6. Clutch/Transmission: All cars MUST start and move under their own power. Cars MUST be able to move both forward and reverse from a stop with motor running at all times. All manual transmissions MUST have blow-proof bell housings. All automatic transmissions MUST have scatter shield made of .25” x 4” steel, 270% around flex plate or flywheel of trans blanket. Bert or Brinn will be allowed. 7. Body: IMCA body dimensions will apply with the exceptions - an 8” rear spoiler will be allowed. 8. Rear-ends: Passenger type or quick-change rear ends allowed. |
